I bet you thought I was going to say Spring didn’t you? Although I did carve a small space out of three foot deep snow on my deck yesterday (to enjoy the sunshine), that is not what I am referring to. Vegabonding!
I went to the post office to check if just maybe the books I ordered from Amazon had arrived; all the while thinking, “No way, that would be way to fast…” But ta daaaaaaaa! They were there! I actually jumped in the air (not too high to draw attention to myself) I was so excited. P.S. I love Amazon!
Even though we are still buried in snow, the sun was shining beautifully yesterday and I took my new books out to the patio and while Jake explored, I delved into the book. Well I am only on page 21 (I was savouring it), but I believe I can say I am not disappointed. Potts writes as if he was speaking to you on your patio while you two are sharing a cold one. We were always taught in school not to write like you speak (mostly because you have to write all those essays!), but I have always enjoyed narrative non fiction.
What stands out so far?
“Vegabonding is about gaining the courage to loosen your grip on the so-called certainties of this world. Vegabonding is about refusing to exile travel to some other, seemingly more appropriate time in your life. Vegabonding is about taking control of your circumstances instead of passively waiting for them to decide your fate.”
Um, hello?! As Potts puts it, I am beginning to feel the “narcotic tingle of possibility”!
